Responsiblities and Experience

  Mr. Kessel’s professional experience as a hydrogeologist includes planning, conducting, and supervising geologic and hydrogeologic investigations and evaluation of remediation alternatives for a variety of contaminant problems. His experience with contaminants includes petroleum fuel hydrocarbons, solvents, PCBs, 1, 4 Dioxane, and Chromium for clients such as oil companies, attorneys, and private industry. Mr. Kessel also has experience in development and management of Phase I assessments, Phase II investigations, and Phase III and IV remediation programs including groundwater monitoring programs, remedial excavation projects and remedial system implementation. During the course of active remediation projects, he has become experienced in air sparge and soil vapor extraction design; dual-phase extraction; pilot testing and design; bioattenuation mechanisms including monitored natural attenuation and enhanced bioremediation such as Hydrogen Releasing Compound (HRCTM) and Chemical Oxidation evaluation, design, and implementation using permanganate, ozone and peroxide.

He has served as lead field geologist, assistant project manager and project manager on numerous site investigations for feasibility studies and construction-related projects with hazardous environmental conditions. Mr. Kessel’s project management experience includes (1) preparation of work authorizations/proposals; (2) preparation of work plan reports or remedial action plans; (3) project set up, field personnel coordination and supply inventory; (4) preparation of technical reports summarizing previous and recent investigations; (5) contractor bid and expenditure comparison for project budget management; and (6) preparation of successful site closure/ “No Further Action” request reports.
